When Your Unfinished Ads Fly Free

When it comes to ad testing, security is critical. Companies usually try lots of different concepts before they settle on the “real” advertisement. But if an unfinished ad is inadvertently released publicly, it can be a public relations disaster.

Ford Motor Company recently had such a crisis. As reported in the Sydney Morning Herald, some offensive ads created by an ad agency were leaked, leading to an apology by the car giant.

According to the Herald, “One drawing features Paris Hilton with reality television counterparts Khloe, Kourtney and Kim Kardashian, who are tied up and bound while they squeeze into the back of the car. In a second drawing, former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi poses with three scantily clad women who are similarly bound and tied.”

We do not condone these ads in any way. But this public relations crisis underscores the point that security is key when it comes to ads that are still in development.

Heretofore most ad testing has been done in-person, and to some extent online. But mobile ad testing was a no go until the advent of MediaBunker from Survey Analytics.

MediaBunker includes BunkerBuster technology which allows the user to delete any media from compromised tablets and smartphones.

New Push Notification Feature for SurveyPocket

New Push Notification Feature for SurveyPocket

Push Notifications Now Available For SurveyPocket on iOS Mobile Devices

Survey Analytics has developed a new feature to send push notifications for those running SurveyPocket on iOS mobile devices including your iPhone and iPad. In the next few weeks, this new feature will also be rolled out to Android mobile devices. To ensure that push notifications will be received, please make sure that the SurveyPocket user has notifications enabled. You can do this from your iPad or iPhone by going to Settings -> Notifcations -> SurveyPocket -> and making sure alerts are enabled.

SurveyPocket push notifications use the Apple notification services and native iOS technology for your assurance of notifications being delivered. If there is no Internet connection available on the device you push a notification to, Apple will queue the message until an Internet connection is found. This is much different than traditional SMS messages that get lost if they are unable to be received right away. As of today, push notifications have to be sent individually to each device, but users can look forward to the near future with ability to group device keys, update push tokens and bulk, and the ability to push the notifications to groups.

Export Survey Data to Editable PowerPoint Charts

Microsoft_PowerPoint_iconThere are many ways to export and share the results of surveys. One of the most popular ways of sharing data is with Microsoft PowerPoint.

PowerPoint can be a a great option for sharing your data, but it can be tedious to enter data manually into PowerPoint. It’s good to have an option for automatically creating PowerPoint charts from your data.

Survey Analytics has an option for exporting your data to automatically to PowerPoint format.

Most of the time, when you export your data to PowerPoint, you want to make some customizations before sharing the results with your client.

That’s why we’re excited to announce that Survey Analytics supports PowerPoint export which includes editable PowerPoint charts.

If your survey software exports to non-editable PowerPoint objects (static images), you can’t customize the charts once they’ve been exported.

But if you export to editable PowerPoint objects, there’s no limit to how much you can edit your charts once they’ve been exported.

Here’s a brief YouTube video showing you how to export your data from Survey Analytics to editable PowerPoint format.

Add a Star Rating Question to Your Survey

Why use the same old boring rating scales? Jazz up your survey by allowing your survey respondents to give ratings using a star scale.

With Survey Analytics it’s easy to add a Star Rating question to your survey.

Just add a new question, then select “Star Rating” under standard question types.  You can label each half-star rating with a custom label if you’d like.

Once you’ve added the star rating question, you can mouse over the stars and they will be filled in with a yellow color. Once you click your rating, the stars will fill in red.

Here is a video tutorial showing you how to do it.

Also, here’s a link to a Survey Analytics help file about star rating questions.

Survey Analytics Adds Spearman’s Rho Correlation Coefficient

Survey Analytics’ Enterprise Research Platform has introduced a powerful way to measure of correlation between two variables, the so-called Spearman’s rho correlation coefficient.

The Greek Letter rho

A correlation coefficient is a number between -1 and +1 which describes the extent to which two variables are related. Values near 1 indicate a strong positive association; values near -1 indicate a strong negative (or inverse) association; and values near 0 indicate a lack of correlation altogether.

Spearman’s rho is a non-parametric statistic, meaning it does not assume any particular distribution of the variables being described. Other common correlation coefficient statistics, notably Pearson’s r, assume the variables are distributed normally.

Survey Analytics plans to add the Pearson’s r correlation coefficient in another upcoming release.

Click here for a tutorial on how to calculate Spearman’s rho using Survey Analytics’ Enteprise Research Platform.
