Automatically Update Panelists Using an Excel File

When you’re managing a research panel, it can be a pain to constantly update your list of members.

Now, you can simply maintain the list in an Excel file; then by setting up a simple FTP or WebDav sync process, MicroPanel will automatically update by checking the Excel file daily or weekly at your option.

MicroPanel is Survey Analytics‘ panel management module, which integrates seamlessly with Survey Analytics’ Enterprise Research Platform.

How to Set Up Max Diff (Maximum Difference Scaling)

Sometimes you can’t avoid having a really long list of attributes in your survey. You need to understand the relative importance of different attributes in consumer decision making.

Rather than have respondents rate each attribute separately, causing respondent fatigue and thus affecting the quality of your data, you can use Max Diff.

Adding a Max Diff question.

In Max Diff questions, respondents are only asked to pick the attributes which are most and least important. Yet in many ways the data produced are more revealing than data from a  traditional grid of attribute ratings.

Here’s a brief tutorial video showing you how to set up Max-Diff in Survey Analytics’ Enterprise Research Platform.

Mobile Field Interviewing on iPod Touch Devices

Tony Fisher is using SurveyPocket in an innovative way to collect feedback.

The Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance conducts economic impact studies, asking fans at cycling events, swim meets and more about how long they are staying in the area and how much money they are spending.

When field interviewers for CSTA use SurveyPocket to collect feedback, they don’t use iPads or Android tablets. Rather, they use iPod touch devices, one of the many mobile platforms supported by SurveyPocket.

Fisher felt it would be easier for interviewers to carry around iPod Touch devices than tablets. Furthermore, he figured to save money on shipping costs as he sends devices all around Canada for various events.

Tony has been working as the Director of Research at the CSTA since 2002. When the time came to renew the licenses on their existing mobile field system, he decided it was time to look around as the legacy system did not feature any kind of on-line surveying capacity and only worked on limited platforms such as Palm.

Fisher evaluated several options but quickly settled on SurveyPocket. “The clincher for me is the fact that it’s unlimited.  I hate paying per response.  The last thing you want to do is to tell survey interviewers to stop surveying because you don’t want to spend any more money.”

“It’s a great tool,” Fisher added, “and it deploys easily. I recently sent some devices out to field interviewers in British Columbia. I was able to push the surveys out to them, they collected the data, and they just sent the devices back.”

“I also like that SurveyPocket gives you access to an online survey tool,” he said. We have a triathlon coming up, and I’m going to send the athletes a survey online to complete when they’re ready. They tend to be busy when they’re racing.”

“For a swimming event coming up we’re going to give respondents two options; either our field interviewers survey you using iPod Touch, or you can scan a QR code on the score sheet and take the survey on your own mobile device.

Survey Analytics’ revised Discrete Choice Conjoint module is more powerful than ever.

Watch the video to see how to easily add discrete choice conjoint to your survey.

But perhaps more importantly, it’s easy to use.  Really easy.  Survey Analytics kept ease-of-use top of mind when revamping its conjoint module.

After all, what good is all that power if it’s too hard to figure out?

Check out this 5-minute YouTube video to see just how easy it is to set up a conjoint exercise using Survey Analytics.

Distribute Your Survey via Social Media or QR Codes

Did you know it’s easy to send out your survey via social media or QR codes using Survey Analytics’ Enterprise Research Platform?

Post your survey link to your company Facebook page, Twitter account or LinkedIn account to allow followers of your brand to take your survey.

It’s as simple as clicking the “post to” button for different social media options, authenticating your social media account, customizing the post language, and posting the link – all within the Survey Analytics interface.

You can also easily download a QR code which people can scan using their mobile device in order to take your survey in their mobile browser.

Here’s a short video showing you how to do it.

SurveyAnalytics.com Malware Warning – All Clear

UPDATE:  We’ve been in touch with Google and the “Malware Warning” issue we had on SurveyAnalytics.com is resolved (see original post below).

You will no longer see a malware warning when visiting SurveyAnalytics.com or when taking a survey, it is completely safe to login and send surveys.  This issue had no effect on any surveys or data.  Furthermore, there was never any ‘malware’ on our servers (it was a single spammer who sent out a survey with a malicious redirect).  We have taken steps to insure that this cannot happen again.

We apologize again for any inconvenience.

ORIGINAL POST:

If you tried to access your Survey Analytics account or surveys today you might have seen a “Warning!” screen informing you that surveyanalytics.com contains malware.  This is primarily affecting visitors who are using Chrome, FireFox, or Safari browsers.

There is no malware on SurveyAnalytics.com, and it’s completely safe for you to continue using our site.

Here’s what happened:

We had one customer who was using a survey for spamming and spreading malware. Google ‘bots’ encountered this survey and generated this warning. We immediately blocked that account and deleted all surveys. Additionally, we have fixed this issue so it will not happen again.

When you see the warning screen it is completely safe for you to click “ignore this warning” or “proceed anyway” and login to your surveyanalytics.com account. Our system is still completely functional.  The malware was never on our servers; instead it was distributed via a redirect on a survey which we have blocked.

We submitted a ‘review request’ to Google, our systems are currently under review by Google and this issue should be resolved within 24 hours. No surveys or data were affected, however, until Google completes their review, respondents will see a warning and may not respond to your surveys.

We apologize again for this problem and are working to resolve it with Google ASAP.

Add Dynamic Text Boxes to Your Survey for Open Ended Responses

Sometimes the regular old questions just won’t do, and it pays to add some dynamism to your survey.

Sometimes the same old, boring single-select survey questions won’t get you the information you need. And sometimes they leave respondents wanting more.

In Survey Analytics’ Enterprise Research Platform, you can easily add dynamic text / comment boxes to make your survey more interesting, and, most importantly, more accurate.

Below is a video tutorial where I show how to create dynamic text/comment boxes.

And here’s a link to a step-by-step explanation of this process in Survey Analytics’ help files.

I hope you enjoy this feature. Let me know how it works for you in the comments section below.

Creating Different Language Versions of Your Survey

In Survey Analytics’ Enterprise Research Platform, it’s easy to create additional language versions for your survey.

It is a very simple process to give your respondents the opportunity to answer your survey in another language.

Simply create your survey in the base language (usually English). Then with just a few clicks, you can add an additional language version choosing from a huge list of languages supported by Survey Analytics, then add the translated versions of each question.  That’s all there is to it!

Below is a video tutorial where I show how to create a French version of a simple survey I created.

And here’s a link to a step-by-step explanation of this process in Survey Analytics’ help files.

I hope you enjoy adding language versions to your survey. Good luck – or perhaps I should say, “bonne chance!”
